Vermont Health Connect preparing businesses, individuals for 'exchange'

With the launch of Vermont's health insurance exchange October 1, Vermont Health Connect has initiated information sessions and signed up "navigators" to help small businesses (50 or fewer employers) and individual buyers of health insurance understand the brave new world of the health insurance manadate, which takes effect January 1, 2014.
More than 200 Navigators are available in communities throughout the state to help Vermonters understand their health care options, enroll in a plan, and access financial help. Small employers and their employees can also turn to Navigators for help in determining their best health coverage options. Here's a list of Vermont's Navigators:

Connect with a Navigator
Starting October 1, you will be able to visit this website and find a Navigator to sit down with you to find a health plan that meets your needs and budget, complete an application, and, if you qualify, access financial help. In the meantime, please contact Navigator Program Director Kelly Dougherty if you'd like to connect with a Navigator Organization for local outreach activities.

Additional Assistance
The Navigator Program is one piece of Vermont Health Connect’s comprehensive consumer assistance program. In addition to the work of Navigator Organizations, health industry employees will be trained and certified to provide enrollment assistance; registered and licensed brokers will have an opportunity to serve small businesses and individuals; and an enrollment support unit and Vermont-based call center will be available. Together, these resources will ensure that Vermonters can get the enrollment help they want, online, by phone or in-person.

Note: If you are already a State of Vermont-licensed producer, you can sign up to be trained and registered as a Registered Broker. If you work for a hospital or clinic or other entity that currently helps Vermonters access health coverage, you can sign up to be trained and registered as a CAC. These certification programs will ensure appropriate training, require compliance with privacy and confidentiality, and give Vermonters a sense of confidence in working with you. Email [email protected] to be added to the training interest list.
