Governor Peter Shumlin appointed Betty Rambur, a registered nurse and professor of Nursing and Health Policy at the University of Vermont, to serve on the five-member Green Mountain Care Board. She will fill out the term of board member Al Gobeille, who has become Chair of the Board.
‘Betty brings two critical skills to the Board. As a nurse she has the hands-on health care experience of those who deliver care in our hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices,’ the Governor said. ‘But she is also an expert in health policy, understanding the complex financing of care, as well as the special challenges of delivering health care in rural areas.’
‘I am honored to serve and look forward to adding my expertise to this endeavor that is so vital to Vermont families, businesses, and health professionals,’ said Rambur.
The five-member Green Mountain Care Board’s mission is to reduce the rate of growth in health care costs, regulate hospital spending and capital expenditures, and curb the growth in health insurance rates. In addition to Gobeille, a Burlington businessman, other members are Colchester physician Allan Ramsay, Karen Hein of Jacksonville, Vt., Adjunct Professor of Family & Community Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School, and former Human Services Secretary Con Hogan of Plainfield.

Rambur is a PhD prepared registered nurse, and has served as a family nurse practitioner, physician assistant, health services researcher, and nurse educator. In addition, she served as Founding Dean of UVM’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences from 2002-2009.
