The Public Service Department has announced that the next meeting of the Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel (VSNAP) will be held on July 17 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Grand Hall of the Quality Inn and Conference Center, 1380 Putney Road in Brattleboro. The agenda for the July 17 meeting includes an update from Vermont Yankee on NRC/Fukushima information requests and orders, as well as a presentation by Erica Bornemann of Vermont Emergency Management Homeland Security on additional funding appropriated to enhance Vermont Yankee emergency planning, and the results of the Vermont Yankee emergency exercise held on June 5th. In addition, State Nuclear Engineer Uldis Vanags will present a draft of the 2012 VSNAP Annual Report. Members of the public are welcome.
The Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel (VSNAP) is governed by 18 V.S.A. Chapter 34. The Commissioner of the Public Service Department chairs the panel, which meets periodically to consider issues relating to the present and future use of nuclear power in general, and of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station in particular.
