The Company-Wide Day of Service is part of the bank’s nationally recognized Employee Volunteer Program which provides employees with paid time off to volunteer during regular business hours. The program helps employees get involved in volunteerism, teaches team work, builds employee morale and creates a positive impact on the non-profit organizations and communities it helps. In 2012, more than 50% of Berkshire Bank’s employees donated over 37,000 hours of service to benefit community organizations across the bank’s service area. The Volunteer Program is another way for the bank to give back to communities it does business in, in addition to the nearly $2 million it gives away annually through its charitable foundation and corporate support.
