Governor Shumlin taps Van Wyck to take seat of the late Greg Clark

Governor Peter Shumlin announced today the appointment of Ferrisburgh Republican Warren Van Wyck to finish the two-year term of the late Representative Greg Clark in the Addison-3 House district. Clark, a Vergennes Republican, died after being struck by a car late last year.
‘ Warren has big shoes to fill. Greg’ s warmth and humor are missed in the Legislature,’ said Shumlin. ‘ I look forward to working with Warren and appreciate that he shares Greg’ s collaborative view of State House work because we are solving some big challenges this year, including strengthening Vermont’ s education system and workforce.’
Van Wyck will serve with Representative Diane Lanpher, D-Vergennes, in the district that includes Vergennes, Ferrisburgh, Addison, Waltham and Panton. District Republicans forwarded Van Wyck’ s name to fill the House vacancy to Shumlin. The governor is not required to pick someone from the same party.
