Community Sailing Center announces resignation of executive director

The Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center Board of Directors announced today the resignation of its Executive Director, Kate Neubauer, effective December 31, 2012.
Over the last ten years, under Kate Neubauers leadership, the organization has achieved significant growth and success. The CSC has become a vital community resource on Burlingtons waterfront, and provided on-water educational and recreational opportunities for over 5,700 people in 2012. Neubauer has helped the Center forge a number of key relationships in the public and private sectors, expanded the reach and impact of the organization, and worked tirelessly to unite the community with Lake Champlain through innovative sailing programs. Kate embodies the spirit and drive upon which the Sailing Center was founded, and will be sorely missed by the Board of Directors, Trustees, staff and the entire community, said Yves Bradley, member of the CSC Board of Directors.
Neubauer, winner of the 2011 US Sailing Director of the Year award and one of Vermont Business Magazine's Rising Stars (Class of 2011), will move on to work as Program Manager for 11th Hour Racing. Headquartered in Newport, RI, the organization works to protect the health of our waters and establishes a dynamic new platform for public education about the responsible use of energy and resources within the sailing community.
The Board and Executive Committee are working with Kate to manage her transition effectively. A personnel task force has been engaged to conduct a national search for her replacement, and the Board has appointed Mark Naud as Interim Executive Director during the search and transition. Naud has been involved with the CSC for over 15 years, and most recently concluded a six-year term as President, Board of Directors in 2011. He will ensure a smooth transition and continuity during the process.
Robert Bloch, President of the Board of Directors, commented, As always, the Sailing Center is committed to its mission and vision and looks forward to continuing to foster opportunities that promote education, access and recreation on Lake Champlain. As we look ahead, we are excited to work with the City of Burlington on securing a permanent home. We wish Kate the best in her future endeavors.
