In an emailed letter dated October 6, 2014, the owners of the Golden Eagle Resort on the Mountain Road in Stowe announced that they had sold the resort and that it was now part of Linchris Hotel Corporation, which is a hotel management company based in Hanover, Massachusetts. In a twitter feed September 26, @linchrishotelco , said, "Please join us in welcoming the Golden Eagle Resort-Stowe, VT to the Linchris family!" The Hillman and Van Dyke families thanked guests and friends and said that after 50 years in the hospitality business that they didn't have "the energy to proceed into the future."
LETTER:
"Dear Guests and long time friends of the Golden Eagle,
"It is with mixed emotions that we write this letter to you. After much reflection, the family has decided to sell the Golden Eagle. Many of you have known three generations of our family and staff as we have known in many cases three generations of your families. So the relationship goes long and deep. At this time, after 50 years in the hospitality business and our age, we realize that we do not have the energy to proceed into the future as both you and we would expect.
"At the end of September a colleague from Boston and his investment group will take over the reins, partnered with Linchris Hotel Corporation a New England based hotel company. Many of the friendly and familiar folks on the staff you have become friends with through the years will continue to welcome and serve you.
"Herb, Neil, Ann and Carol wish to thank you for your years of patronage. Many of you have expressed how meaningful your experience here at the resort has been and for that we are most gratified. We have been honored that the Golden Eagle has been the place of your choice to celebrate milestone events: honeymoons, anniversaries, meetings, reunions and annual return stays, and that you will continue to do so.
