Last month the group nominated Claudio Fort, President & CEO of North Country Hospital, and Vermont FBLA selected him as Business Person of the Year. His name will be entered as the Vermont nominee at the National Conference.
In 2013, North Country Hospital and FBLA entered into a collaborative relationship thanks to the knowledgeable high school students who were mentors of a Microsoft Office course for hospital employees.
The meeting of the minds came out of a need for the students to raise money to attend the Future Business Leaders of America 2013 National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. The hospital had just upgraded Microsoft Office Suite from 2003 to 2010, which was a significant change for the hospital staff.
“This is a much more meaningful way to make an impact – with our future business leaders teaching adults,” Hospital CEO Claudio Fort said. “It was a win-win for everyone.”
“I am extremely honored by this award,” Fort said when the group presented him with the business leader accolade at Lake Region. “The students are really setting the bar high with their professionalism and dedication to the future work force.”
At June’s national conference, FBLA member Sydney Whipple will be recognized as the 2014-15 President Elect and FBLA leader Betsy Calhoun, M.Ed., will be recognized as the 2014 Outstanding Advisor.
