Vermont Business Magazine Washington Monthly has named College of StJoseph as a top 100 “Best Bang for the Buck” College in the Northeast region.Since its inception in 2011, the magazine’s annual list has independently ranked colleges from around the nation that are the best value for students’ money.The list placed CSJ at 57 out of 402 schools in the Northeast, and CSJ was one of just two Vermont colleges to make the top 100. The magazine notes that the list rates colleges that are “doing the best job of helping non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”
“We are thrilled that Washington Monthly has recognized College of St. Joseph among its best value colleges. This recognition reflects our mission to provide an accessible and affordable education for our students, and is a result of all of the hard work of our faculty and staff,” said CSJ President Rich Lloyd.
The College is also furthering its mission and addressing national concern over the rising cost of higher education through the Provider Scholarship Program.
The program offers all residential students who meet admissions requirements $65,000 over four years and requires them to remain in good academic standing, participate in one campus activity, and complete 15 hours of community engagement each semester. Scholarships are also available for commuter students.
The Washington Monthly list, which began as an article highlighting a small number of colleges, has grown into comprehensive ranking of colleges that is based on the college’s graduation rate, student loan default rate, number of students receiving federal Pell assistance and net price for all students.
