Vermont Business Magazine SW Cole Engineering, Inc, headquartered in Bangor, Maine, has acquired the construction materials testing division of EIV Technical Services, a Williston, Vermont-based firm that provides services in the fields of civil engineering, construction inspection, hydrology, survey, environmental permitting, and historic assessment. SW Cole Engineering Inc, a 36-year-old geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and geoenvironmental services firm with 90 employees and offices in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, has acquired EIV’s construction materials testing equipment and their laboratory and is currently accepting applications for field and laboratory technicians. EIV will retain all of its services aside from construction materials testing and will continue to grow and operate in Williston.
According to Chad Michaud, PE, Senior Vice President of SW Cole, the new Burlington area operation will be overseen by Alan Brown. Alan, who has 30 years of experience in the construction materials testing industry in Vermont, will also continue to oversee SW Cole’s White River Junction, Vermont office, as he has done since it opened in 2013.
“This acquisition allows SW Cole to service the demand for construction materials testing in the greater Burlington area and, coupled with our White River Junction office, allows us better access to the entire state of Vermont,” Michaud said.
All of S.W.COLE’s offices have laboratories that provide physical testing of concrete, soil, aggregates and asphalt. The firm’s technicians provide special inspections and field testing of construction materials for buildings, roads and bridges, water and wastewater projects, industrial and manufacturing projects, and wind power and transmission projects, throughout New England.
Jacqueline Dagesse, President of EIV Technical Services, noted that the Williston, Vermont-based Company, founded in 1964, has 30 employees and continues to grow steadily each year. EIV has provided project management, quality assurance, construction inspection and environmental services on some of the largest transportation projects in Vermont.
The company has worked with project owners and clients of all types throughout Vermont, including municipal state agencies, educational and healthcare organizations, and contractors and developers in the greater Burlington area. S.W.COLE’s acquisition of EIV’s construction materials testing division, says President Jacqueline Dagesse, was spurred by a significant increase in the materials testing needs of EIV’s clients.
“This acquisition will allow the testing laboratory to scale-up, essentially overnight, to meet these demands,” Dagesse explained, “and will allow EIV to continue to grow its core services with efficiency and innovation. We are proud to have created this partnership with SW Cole, and we look forward to the continued success of both firms.”
Effective immediately, the contact information for EIV’s former construction materials testing services will now be:
