The Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce awarded BFA Athletic Director, coach and youth mentor Dan Marlow with their prestigious Tim Bovat Civic Involvement Award in May 2015. The annual event serves as an opportunity for the Chamber’s Board of Directors to recognize members of the local business community who have excelled in commitment and service to our region.
An integral member of the community for many years, Mr. Marlow’s reputation for integrity, principle and commitment is one that resonates with every student who has had the good fortune of crossing paths with him. Since the early 1970s, Mr. Marlow has served local athletes and teams in a coaching or mentoring capacity. More than teaching young athletes to play a game, Mr. Marlow has demonstrated sportsmanship and team collaboration. Of the many community based programs to his credit, he coordinated the Vermont High School Athletic Leadership Conference and the BFA Athletic Advisory Council to provide young people with leadership opportunities.
Mr. Marlow has received numerous honors for his outstanding work with young people. In 2006, he was presented with NIAAA National Distinguished Service Award. In 2012 he was inducted into the Vermont Principals Association Hall of Fame.
Additional award recipients included Large Business of the Year: Hannaford Supermarkets in Enosburg, Swanton and St. Albans; Small Business of the Year: Cross Consulting Engineers of St. Albans; and the Rising Star Award was presented to Premier Signs & Graphics of Richford.
The Annual Dinner is the Franklin County Chamber’s signature event, attracting over 200 attendees every spring. This year’s event featured broadcast journalist Dr. Bob Arnot as guest speaker.
