Fresh off of two productive events featuring Vermont businesses, Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott is partnering with the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce and other regional organizations to host the “Franklin and Grand Isle County Economy Pitch” onFebruary 16, 2015.During the two-hour session at the StAlbans Historical Museum, legislators and the general public from the Franklin County/Grand Isle region will hear representatives of the region’s business community propose steps lawmakers could take which will, in the eyes of businesses, have a positive impact on the State’s economy.
“Vermont’s business community is very good at problem-solving and thinking outside of the box,” Scott said. “In my opinion, no issue on the table right now other than public safety is more important than growing our economy and easing the financial burden on Vermonters, and I’m heartened to see so many lawmakers eager to consider fresh ideas.”
“When I saw an opportunity to get our businesses and our legislators in the same room for a positive discussion, I jumped at the chance,” said Dave Southwick, executive director of the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We’re fortunate here in Vermont to have direct access to the people who make our laws, and I’m hopeful they’ll take the ideas we pitch back to Montpelier.”
The “Franklin and Grand Isle County Economy Pitch” is the third pitch session this year, following the “Vermont Economy Pitch” in Montpelier onJanuary 7and the “Rutland Economy Pitch” on February 9. This pitch is presented in cooperation with the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce and co-hosts: Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, the Lake Champlain Islands Economic Development Corporation and the Franklin County Business & Professional Women.
