Burlington School Board names finalists for superintendent

The Ad Hoc Superintendent Search Committee of the Burlington School Board has identified two finalists for the position of permanent Superintendent for the Burlington School District. Joyce Mundy, currently the Superintendent of the Centennial School District in Warminster, Pennsylvania and Yaw Obeng, a Superintendent in Halton District School Board in Burlington, Ontario have been invited to Burlington for a final series of interviews this Thursday and Friday, January 29-30. We are pleased to announce that both candidates accepted their invitations.

The final interviews will consist of a Community Interview on Thursday, January 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Hunt Middle School, a Student Interview on Friday, January 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Burlington High School, a Staff Interview on Friday, January 30 at 3:30 p.m. at Hunt Middle School, and a Board Interview on Friday, January 30 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Central Office. The Board Interview will be held in Executive Session. We encourage stakeholders to attend their appropriate session and to register their impressions and opinions of each candidate at the session. Community input will be carefully considered as the Board makes its final decision.

Finally, for several weeks the Ad Hoc Superintendent Search Committee has been working closely with the Superintendent Search Advisory Committee (SSAC), a group of community stakeholders who have participated in the search process. From the drafting of the Superintendent position description to registering their impressions of the semi-finalists, the SSAC has shared their collective wisdom to advance the process. The Board and community appreciate their dedication and their wise counsel.
