Vermont Business Magazine Howard Center recently appointed Kelly Deforge and Trevor J. Squirrell to its Board of Trustees for three-year terms. Kelly Deforge is a senior mortgage loan originator with Union Bank and has more than 20 years of experience in the housing finance industry. Her specific area of expertise is assisting first-time homeowners and providing homebuyer education. She is a co-chair of Howard Center’s Family Advisory Council, a community advisory committee. In addition, Deforge is also the former president of the Home Share Vermont board of directors, where she served for nine years. She is also a member of the loan committee for Champlain Housing Trust. Deforge lives in Essex Junction with her husband and two sons.

Trevor J Squirrell has more than 35 years of experience in both the business and non-profit sectors. His administrative, fiscal, public relations, grant writing, fund raising, advocacy, program development, and staff management experience have been instrumental in helping develop several sustainable organizations. He is the executive director of the Brain Injury Association of Vermont, and he also serves as chair of Vermont’s Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board and chair of Vermont’s Concussion Task force. He has been involved in his community by serving on the Underhill Conservation Commission, Underhill Planning Commission, and the Jericho Underhill Land Trust. Squirrell lives in Underhill Center and was recently elected as a Vermont State Representative for Jericho and Underhill.
Officers were also elected as follows: Gail Stevenson, Ph.D., President, Mike Simoneau, Vice President, Matthew Frazee, CPA, Treasurer, and Katherine Connolly as Secretary.
Howard Center offers life-saving professional crisis and counseling services to children and adults; supportive services to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities who need help with education, employment, and life maintenance skills; counseling and medical services for those struggling with substance use disorders, and intensive interventions and supports for adults with serious and persistent mental health challenges. Last year we helped more than 16,000 people. Howard Center is a funded agency of the United Way of Northwest Vermont.
