Scott, Leahy condemn Trump revelations

Vermont Business Magazine Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott, who is running for governor, and Senator Patrick Leahy both issued statements Saturday following the recently released video of presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Scott said: “As the father of two daughters, and as an American who has high expectations for our candidates for president, I find the recently revealed statements of Donald Trump disgusting and disappointing.

“Nearly a year ago, long before he was the nominee, I said I would not vote for Mr Trump because of the laundry list of offensive insults he had already made about people with disabilities, prisoners of war, minorities and women. These revolting remarks reaffirm my decision not to support him.

“Like the overwhelming majority of Americans, and Vermonters, I want to elect and serve with public servants who treat all people with respect and dignity and who serve as positive examples for our children. Donald Trump is not one of those people.”

Leahy said: “The most recent revelation about Mr Trump is the latest in a string of appalling and offensive comments about women. This cannot be tolerated or excused away. Donald Trump is not fit to be President.”
