Minter campaign: Republican Governors Association misleads Vermonters

Vermont Business Magazine The Sue Minter for governor campaign is fighting back against an ad from the national Republican Governors Association that went on air yesterday with what the campaign says is a misleading attack ad against the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.

"This ad is typical of the distortions that we’ve seen across the country from the national Republican Party. I'd expect this kind of attack from Donald Trump, but it has no place in Vermont,” said Elliott Bent, Minter campaign spokesman.

Minter's tax-fairness plan clearly states that she will hold the line on sales and income tax rates, support the middle-class by opposing attempts to add sales or service taxes that could hurt working families, and close loopholes that support corporations and the wealthy.

"The RGA, and Phil Scott's messages don't add up," continued Bent. "Scott voted to raise the sales tax - our most regressive tax - costing Vermonters nearly $700 million. Sue is the candidate who is looking out for middle-class Vermonters by supporting tax fairness and an increase in the minimum wage, fighting for paid family leave and access to quality childcare, and offering concrete plans for affordable college."
