Outage and Power Restoration Update - Vermont Electric Coop
5:00 pm10/30/17
Vermont Electric Cooperative crews have been restoring power to many of our members during the day, but there is plenty of hard work ahead some of which may take several days to complete. At the height of the outage early this morning, approximately 40 percent of VEC’s 38,000 members did not have power. We have restored power to 3,130 members, leaving about 12,000 members still without power as of5pm.
The extent and complexity of the damage coupled with the high demand for mutual aid crews all across New England means it will take longer than usual for restoration in many cases. For some members, it may be several days before power is restored and we urge members to plan for this eventuality.
“It’s deeply frustrating to be without power especially for an extended period,” said Christine Hallquist, VEC’s chief executive officer. “But please bear with us – our hard-working line crews are doing everything they can to safely restore electricity.”
