Vermont Business Magazine Bill Orleans, president and founder of PP&D Brochure Distribution & the PP&D VT/NY Map, and the Burlington Business Association (BBA) have worked together to produce and install a new pilot wayfinding map of downtown Burlington at the Marketplace Parking Garage, located at 147 Cherry Street.
“I am always looking for new ways to promote our map and advertisers. This large format map makes it easier for visitors to explore downtown and find the best restaurants, shops and attractions,”says Orleans.
“The City of Burlington and the Burlington Business Association are working to enhance the parking garages, and this fits in perfectly with our goals,”says Kelly Devine, director of the Burlington Business Association.
This map is a first step in a larger project that will focus on improving the parking experience in Burlington, with the goal of increasing visitorship and encouraging economic vitality. BBA and Burlington’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will be working on a full-scale information and signage program for downtown garages in 2017 and 2018.
PP&D Brochure Distribution was founded in 1981. Four years ago, the company purchased The Blue Map and has worked on improving and expanding it. Other new projects include a smaller one-page map called the Hotel Handout. Over 10,000 copies are printed and distributed to over 25 hotels and info centers. A larger poster-sized downtown map is being placed throughout the city as well.
PP&D has ten employees, and has its headquarters on Pine Street in Burlington. They own over eight hundred brochure displays and distribute brochures throughout most of Vermont as well as parts of New York and New Hampshire. They also publish The Champlain Coupons and The Upper Valley Coupons.
PP&D has over 400 clients that include: Burlington Waterfront Map, Church Street Marketplace, Seven Days, Bennington Potters, Magic Hat Brewery, Lake Champlain Ferry, Skinny Pancake, Ben & Jerry’s, Jay Peak Resort, and Cabot Creamery.
