Vermont Business MagazineFamous for its pizza ovens, Blodgett Oven has announced the sale ofits property on Lakeside Avenue in Burlington and the purchase of amanufacturing facility at 42 Allen Martin Drive, Essex, VT. The MiddlebyCorporation, parent company of Blodgett, executed the sale and purchase onFriday, June 23, 2017.Blodgett Oven was established in Burlington in 1848 and produces awardwinning commercial convection and combi ovens as well as steam equipmentunder the brand names Blodgett and Market Forge. Blodgett has been at theLakeside Avenue site since the 1940s.
“The purchase of a larger, more state of the art manufacturing facilitywill enable the Blodgett brands continued growth. Our greatest asset is ourVermont workforce and we are thrilled to be able to expand here,” said DanCoolbeth, Vice President of Operations. Adding, “We could not haveaccomplished this move without the support of the Miller family of MillerRealty Group, the assistance of Frank Cioffi of the Greater BurlingtonIndustrial Corporation (GBIC), as well as the folks at The Vermont EconomicProgress Council (VEPC) and the town of Essex.”
Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger said, “It is painful to see a 170-year-old company leave Burlington. However, knowing this move will allow Blodgett to expand and grow jobs in Vermont, and the great potential the former site has to meet today’s Burlington goals, I am excited that this long-sought sale has been completed.”
Blodgett Ovens and Market Forge Industries are a division of The MiddlebyCorporation, a global leader in the foodservice equipment industry. Thecompany develops, manufactures, markets and services a broad line ofequipment used for commercial and residential food cooking, preparation andprocessing.
