USCIS to welcome 20 new US citizens Thursday at The Grammar School in Putney

Vermont Business MagazineUSCitizenship and Immigration Services will present 20 citizenship candidates to the Honorable Colleen A. Brown, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, U.S. District Court Vermont District during a naturalization ceremonyon Thursdayat The Grammar School, Putney.Judge Brown will administer theOath of Allegianceto America’s newest citizens.

The 20 candidates, aging from 18 to 68 years old, represent the following 15 countries: Bhutan, Bosnia, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, France, Moldova, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Sweden, United Kingdom, Vietnam, and Yemen.

USCIS naturalization ceremonies in Vermont are judicial ceremonies and with court approval this ceremony is being held at The Grammar School forpublic awareness of the U.S. citizenship process. The Grammar School Head of School, Nick Perry will welcome the citizenship candidates and guests, and the 4th-6thgrade chorus will provide musical selections.

USCIS encourages new citizens and guests to share their naturalization ceremony experiences and photos through social media, using the hashtag #newUScitizen.

Naturalization is the process by which UScitizenship is conferred upon foreign citizens or nationals after fulfilling the requirements established by Congress. After naturalization, foreign-born citizens enjoy nearly all the same benefits, rights and responsibilities that the Constitution gives to native-born U.S.citizens, including the right to vote.
