Car crashes into house in Lyndon after police chase

Vermont State Police On 10/2/2018, at approximately 1035 hours, Vermont State Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle travelling north on Severance Hill Road in the town of St Johnsbury. After the operator, Michael King (29), failed to yield a pursuit was initiated. Troopers pursued King as he continued north on on Severance Hill Road at speeds between 80 and 100 miles per hour in a posted 35 and 40 mph speed zones respectively. King subsequently crashed into a house at the intersection of Severance Hill Road and Red Village Road in Lyndon, approximately 45 seconds after the pursuit was initiated.

King and the passenger, John Brown (31) were screened by EMS after being detained. Brown was cleared roadside and King was transported to the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital before being taken into custody by Troopers. The vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Corolla, was totaled in the crash. No occupants of the house were injured. The house sustained structural damage, but the vehicle did not break through the wall.
