Stratton welcomes fall with Blues, Brews and BBQ

Vermont Business Magazine Stratton Mountain is closing out the summer season with the first ever Blues, Brews and BBQ. Set for Saturday, September 1, visitors to southern Vermont’s highest peak can sample a selection of the state’s notable craft beers and ciders.

Ticketsare $38 and include a commemorative tasting glass and 10 sample tickets. The line-up includes Fiddlehead, Long Trail, Harpoon, Citizen Cider, Stormalong Cider, Stowe Cider and a dozen more Vermont and other craft purveyors. Free live music will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Long Road Home, followed by Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers at 1 p.m. and the Dave Keller Band at 3:30 p.m. Local barbecue and food trucks will be onsite for those looking for a quick nosh. Beer will be pouring until 5 p.m.. and tickets can be purchased online or at guest services in the main base lodge.

Blues, Brews and BBQ isn’t the only event over Labor Day. On Aug. 30, the weekend kicks off with Stratton’s annual tent sale. Gear up for the coming winter season with up to 70 percent off on outerwear, accessories, and ski and snowboard gear. Locals Day is Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sale opens daily at 9 a.m. and through 6 p.m. on Friday, 7 p.m. on Saturday, 6 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. Monday.

Get your sweat on before sampling beer with the Summit Assault race, a six-mile test with 2,003 feet of elevation gain. Registration is open and getting to the top rewards you with a free gondola trip to the base and a beer ticket. Registration can be found online.

If you need to stretch out and refocus before heading back to work, the Lole White Tour On the Road will be heading to Stratton on Sept. 2. Held at the Stratton Lake House, the yoga gathering that is focused on community empowerment will be hosted by Lole ambassador Kaitlyn Zwagerman and will be set to the tune of live music with a picturesque lake and mountain setting. Shuttles will begin running to the Lake House from the Stratton Welcome Center at 8:50 a.m.

Labor Day at Stratton wouldn’t be complete without its relaxing scenic gondola rides, challenging hikes, and 27-hole championship golf course. Stay for the long weekend with Thursday or Sunday night free when stay Friday and Saturday nights, allowing for ample time to explore all the Green Mountains have to offer.
