Excerpt from the story “Giuseppe’s Outlook,” condensed for clarity:
Giuseppe and his son Aldo celebrated Giuseppe’s 75th birthday at his favorite restaurant–and after dinner they noticed a fire in the distance. As they walked home and turned the corner on Pleasant Street, they both gasped, as the house that was engulfed in flames was Giuseppe’s. This was the home where Giuseppe had lived for 50 years, and where he and Maria had raised their family. Aldo looked over at his dad and noticed him grinning.
Aldo asked, “Dad, why are you not more visibly upset?” Giuseppe responded while putting his arm around his son, “Aldo, please do not cry for me. I have you and my treasured memories intact. As far as the house and my belongings, I look forward to tomorrow as everything will be new again.”
Praise for The Best Is Yet to Be
“In a world with an around-the-clock barrage of negativity, I found The Best Is Yet to Be an important reminder to stay positive and humble,” says Tim Humphrey of Rock Point Advisors.
“Thought provoking and inspirational, personal and relatable, Sudbay’s collection of stories will be a staple in my life,” says Sara Blum, President of Acorn Marketing
“The storytelling is artful…any reader will see new and different perspectives on the world. The family element is really interesting. People who work in business will take away something from this book, but people who work in any sort of customer-centered field will take away even more” says Rich Callahan, PA at the University of Vermont Medical Center
