South Londonderry man dies in apparent logging accident

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont State Police is investigating the untimely death of Francis J. Hallahan, 69, of South Londonderry in what appears to be a logging accident. Police were notified at about 11:20 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, of a deceased male at the Hallahan property, 3432 Winhall Hollow Road in South Londonderry, and began an investigation. Mr. Hallahan was last reported seen between 6-7 p.m. Saturday, June 23, as he trimmed treelimbs on his property, and was later heardin hisresidence the morning of Sunday, June 24.

At about 11 a.m. Monday, a neighbor arrived to check on Mr. Hallahan,discovered a large tree felled in the back yard and foundMr. Hallahan trappedbeneaththe tree. The neighbor called 911, and responding emergency crews at 11:19 a.m. pronounced Mr. Hallahan deceased.

Investigators found signs oftrauma consistent with Mr. Hallahanbeing injured by a fallingtree and the ground. There were no other signs of trauma. The body was being transported to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Burlington for an autopsy. At this time there areno signs of foul play.
