Vermont Business Magazine In recognition of the importance of the nursing profession to its members and the community, New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) annually awards three nursing scholarships of $3,000 each. As part of their application, candidates submit an original, 250-word essay describing how they will use their degree to contribute to their community.
Here are this year’s recipients of the NEFCU Nursing Scholarships:
Acheri Donnell of Northfield, VT, is currently attending the School of Nursing at Norwich University to earn a Bachelor of Science degree. “This award allows me to continue my journey to become a registered nurse and eventually a midwife,” said Donnell. “I had some unexpected clinical fees that made me unsure if I could continue. The scholarship makes it possible to stay on my path.”
Zacheriah Cota-Weaver of Colchester, VT, is enrolled in the University of Vermont’s Masters of Science Nursing - Clinical Nurse Leader program. “Attending the graduate nurse leader program at UVM is a full-time commitment, which has meant taking out cost of living loans to support myself through school,” said Cota-Weaver. “This generous support from NEFCU will help me pay for essential school supplies and significantly lower my debt burden. This scholarship will make a huge impact on my success as a student, and on my quality of life. Thank you NEFCU for supporting Vermonters entering the nursing workforce!”
Benedicte Yodishembo of Williston, VT, is currently attending Howard University to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree.
