UVM to host Northeast medical educators’ conference

Vermont Business Magazine This week, Larner College of Medicine will welcome more than 200 academic medicine educators and learners from throughout the northeastern US for the premier medical education gathering in our region. This conference is returning to the University of Vermont for the first time in 13 years, and after a delay of three years cause by the pandemic.

WHAT: Northeast Group on Educational Affairs, one of four regional groups of the Association of American Medical Colleges.

WHEN: April 13-15

WHERE: UVM Campus locations including Dudley Davis Center, Medical Education classrooms and Health Science Research Facility

WHO: Faculty, residents, fellows, and students from medical colleges throughout the northeastern U.S.

Distinguished plenary speakers include Joseph A. Tyndall, M.D., M.P.H., FACEP, professor and dean at Morehouse School of Medicine; Elizabeth Gaufberg, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of medicine and psychiatry at Harvard Medical School; and Kimara Ellefson, M.B.A., national director of strategy and partnerships for Kern National Network for Flourishing in Medicine.

WHY: To promote excellence in the education of medical students, residents and physicians through the professional development of medical educators. This conference is an excellent way for learners to engage with Medical Education experts from all specialties and to learn more about developing careers in Medical Education.

WHAT ELSE: Session topics will include incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the medical curriculum, using simulation and new technology for teaching, using storytelling to develop emotional intelligence in medical students, assessment of LGBTQ curricula in medical education, leveraging students’ personal wellbeing to assist patients in achieving health goals, and more.
