VAAFM: Apply for a Community Supported Agriculture Grant

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets Are you an early childhood educator or after school program looking for creative ways to support local farms and promote nutrition, food access, or culinary education for the children and families that you serve?

The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Grant, offered by the Farm to School and Early Childhood Program of the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets, will partially reimburse childcare providers or after school programs for CSA or farm shares purchased from Vermont farms.

The maximum grant award for this funding opportunity is $1,000. The grants will reimburse programs for 70-80% of the cost of a CSA or farm share.

Examples of how grantees can use local food purchased through the CSA grant include serving CSA food in meals and snacks, sending them home with children, or using them in cooking activities.

The Request for Applications is available now. The application will open in WebGrants on March 10th and close on April 7th at noon.

The NFBF is accepting membership applications. They provide organizational development training to owners of forest products companies to help them advance their businesses.

The Center developed the Forum as a leadership peer advisory group, designed for CEO’s, business owners, or senior leadership of small to mid-sized private wood products companies located in the Northern Forest.

Global Village Foods of Quechee began with a couple settling here in Vermont from Kenya and Tennessee. They've now created a business dedicated to supplying people with ready-to-eat, allergy-friendly, African-inspired meals and snacks.

"Our team seeks to maintain a quintessential Vermont ethos of local sourcing from friends and neighbors." said co-owner Mel Hall.

Global Village Foods received a $250,000 grant in 2022 to upgrade equipment and develop a strategy to source more VT meat and produce. You can visit their website and learn more.

Final Reminder: VT Specialty Crop Block Grant Deadline!

Final Reminder: VT Specialty Crop Block Grant Program Deadline

The application deadline for the Vermont Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) is Tuesday, February 28th!

The SCBGP awards grants for two and a half year projects to benefit multiple producers of specialty crops, defined in the Farm Bill as fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops (including Christmas trees), floriculture, herbs and spices, medicinal plants, hops, honey, maple syrup, and mushrooms.
