Vermont State Council of SHRM appoints new and returning officers

Vermont Business Magazine The SHRM Vermont State Council has elected Mara Neufeld Rivera, SHRM-SCP, Head of People & Culture with Chroma Technology Corp to serve as State Council Director beginning January 2023. Mara had previously served on the council as Director-Elect and Diversity Director. Rivera succeeds Ross Gibson, Chief of Operations, Employee Benefits Division with The Richards Group, who led the Council for the past two years.

Other appointments of the statewide human resources organization include Michele Granitz, Head of Benefits, Total Rewards with National Life Group as Treasurer. Returning officers are Lisa Barron, HR Director with Gifford Hospital as Secretary and Elisabeth Harris, Chief People Officer of VEIC as Membership Director.

The SHRM Vermont State Council is a non-profit organization and exists as an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management, the world's largest association devoted to Human Resource Management. The council’s mission is to advance HR excellence through shared knowledge, connections, and leadership.

Membership is made up of 18 volunteers who are appointed to the council, including the elected Presidents of Vermont’s 3-local affiliated SHRM chapters: Vermont Human Resources Association (VHRA), Green Mountain Human Resources Association (GMHRA), and River Valley Human Resources Association (RVHRA).

The council supports the efforts of SHRM in the core leadership areas identified as Membership, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, Workforce Readiness, College Relations, SHRM Certification, SHRM Foundation, and Government Affairs.
