Survey is coming to Vermonters’ mailboxes this fall
Vermont Business Magazine Vermonters and their children who have been to a doctor’s office in the last six months may receive a survey about their health care experience in their mailbox this fall. This will be a chance to offer valuable feedback and help identify opportunities for providers to improve care.
Every year, Vermont’s Blueprint for Health asks whether Vermonters can get the health care they need and how well doctors are meeting Vermonters’ health care needs. The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey takes a broad, statewide look at how patients experience primary care providers – usually, your family doctor or pediatrician. Since 2011, this survey has provided valuable insights into how easily Vermonters can access the care they need, how well providers communicate and work together to coordinate care, and how patients and their loved ones are supported in managing their care needs.
This year’s survey will offer new insights on counseling and mental health treatment, specialty care, and inequities in care. Now, more than ever, Vermont policymakers, health care providers, and leaders need information about how health care is working for Vermonters. Vermonters who are asked to complete the survey will receive a letter this fall from DataStat Inc., an independent patient satisfaction survey contractor. The survey results will help health care workers in Vermont gain insight into the impact of what they do, why it matters, and the difference they can make.
“We are concerned about and invested in monitoring access and experience to care,” states Dr. John Saroyan, Executive Director for Blueprint for Health, “particularly as the system has been under stress from the pandemic and workforce shortages. This survey will give us concrete information about how we can improve healthcare for all Vermonters.”
