Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott has signed a proclamation declaring the week of August 22-26, 2022 as Vermont Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week. The proclamation mirrors one signed at the National level where the President declared the same period as National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.
ESGR Week recognizes and thanks the multitude of civilian employers who, through their support to their dual-career employees, enable these citizen service members to continue to serve in uniform without concern for losing their jobs.
National Guard and Reserve (“Reserve Component”) forces comprise nearly half of the total force and are essential to America’s national security. Reserve Component Forces stand ready to answer the call to serve, whether alongside their Active Duty counterparts, or responding to humanitarian crises at home or abroad.
Employer support is stronger than ever, now more than 50 years after President Nixon authorized the Secretary of Defense to establish the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Our nation remains in debt to our citizen service men and women leaving the comfort of home to ensure that our freedoms remain intact.
Annually, America pays special tribute to the commitment of dedicated and supportive employers who continue to make service in the Reserve Component possible. These employers sacrifice as well while they support their employees in absences up to a year at a time. They too serve, even if not in uniform.
About ESGR
