Progressive State Committee nominates candidates for statewide office, including Brenda Siegel

Vermont Business Magazine At their meeting on August 13th, the Vermont Progressive Party nominated three candidates for Statewide Office for the November General election. The Party nominated Brenda Siegel (D/P) for Governor, David Zuckerman (P/D) for Lieutenant Governor, and Doug Hoffer (D/P) for Auditor. The Party also called on all candidates to make passage of Proposition 5/Article 22 in favor of reproductive liberty in Vermont a priority in their campaigns.

In supporting the nominations, Progressive Party Chair Anthony Pollina said: “Brenda Siegel brings an activist’s background and commitment to her campaign for Governor. She is a strong and steady voice for the many Vermonters struggling through an economy stacked against them, a severe housing crisis, an opioid epidemic and many other challenges. She will bring the voice of average Vermonters to this campaign.

"Zuckerman, as a legislator and as Lt. Governor has been out front on important issues from equal rights and marriage equality to economic and environmental justice. He is a tireless supporter of working families and organized labor. Doug Hoffer, as State Auditor, has proven over and over to be an effective government watch dog, standing up for Vermont consumers and families, whether taking on state government or corporate interests. We look forward to supporting them and to their success in their campaigns."

Additionally, the Committee unanimously passed the following statement on Proposition 5/Article 22: "The Vermont Progressive Party endorses the passage of Proposition 5/Article 22 in favor of reproductive liberty in Vermont and urges our candidates to publicly support its passage as a priority in their campaigns."

“Passing Article 22 is essential to supporting reproductive rights and stopping the assault on reproductive and other rights and liberties,” said Pollina.
