Vermont Business Magazine Community Bank is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2022 Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival for the fourth consecutive year. Established in 2006, this team-based charity event raises money to support local cancer survivors.
Since its conception 16 years ago, the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival has raised and donated over $1 million to benefit cancer survivors in the community. All funds raised during this year’s event will go to support Dragonheart Vermont, a nonprofit breast cancer wellness organization, and its Pledge Partner, Cancer Patient Support Foundation (CPSF). Donations will be allocated for the Emergency Fund, CPSF’s largest program that provides financial support for local cancer patients and their families while they are undergoing treatment.
“We’re thrilled to be the presenting sponsor for this year’s Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival for the fourth year in a row,” Community Bank Public Relations and Community Outreach Manager Erinn Perry said. “This is an incredible event and we’re so glad we can help support our community in raising money for our local cancer survivors.”
“We are thrilled to partner with our friends at Community Bank, where their commitment to supporting local causes allows our organization to reach those who matter most — our loved ones affected by cancer,” Festival Director Nina Atkinson said. “This year, we especially celebrate the lives of dear members who recently passed away. It is for them that we work hard every day of the year and commemorate them and all of our community on Festival Day.”
Events on the day of the festival will include dragon boat racing, music and dance performances, and a post-race awards ceremony. Spectators will be able to enjoy on-site food and drink vendors, prize raffles and a photobooth, in addition to the racing, dance and musical entertainment. The festival is set to take place on Aug. 7, 2022.
