Vermont Business Magazine Norwich University’s Winter Carnival returns February 11 to February 13, reviving a long-standing tradition that celebrates Vermont’s longest season with student campus life and local family fun.
The carnival features a sledding party, guided snowshoeing, ice skating, a snow sculpture contest, a World Cow scavenger hunt and much more.
The public is invited to visit campus for those activities and a story walk on Paine Mountain at noon Saturday and a pajama fun run at 8:45 on Sunday.

Story Walk
Visit the Shaw Outdoor Center for a self-guided story walk up Paine Mountain. The Story Walk starts at the Shaw Outdoor Center and leads readers up the Blue Trail to the sledding party. It’s a 10-minute walk, probably 20 if you‘re reading along the way. (Story walk, provided by the Brown Public Library, will be set up Friday, Feb.11 to Monday, Feb.14, 2022).
Pajama or Onesie Family 5K run/walk
Join us Sunday, Feb. 13, for the inaugural Pajama or Onesie 5K run/walk. Roll out of bed and bring the whole family for a fun-filled morning of moving. This will be a group 5K run starting at 9 a.m.; the walking group departs at 9:15 a.m.
Norwich University’s cross-country team members will lead the group run with history professor and Northfield resident Rowland Brucken and local Runderachievers. The run starts and ends at Plumley Armory.
Theme: Pajama or Onesie

Prize: Each participant will be entered in a drawing to win prizes.

World Cow: We’re all spots on the same cow
New this year, a record 100 World Cows will be hidden around campus and the Northfield crescent for carnivalgoers to find. Also, a special Norwich University World Cow will be raffled off to benefit The Veterans’ Place, a Northfield, Vermont, structured transitional home in which homeless veterans recover and rehabilitate.
