Vermont Business Magazine Amtrak has cancelled passenger rail service on The Vermonter tomorrow due to the impending storm. Amtrak is making a number of service changes for tomorrow, including the following for the region:
- The Vermonter is cancelled in both directions.
- All New Haven-Springfield-Greenfield Service (Amtrak Hartford Line, Valley Flyer, Northeast Regional) is cancelled.
- All Amtrak Northeast Corridor service between NYP and BOS is cancelled.
Amtrak expects that the Vermonter will operate on Sunday, although Sunday morning may bring additional cancellations depending on conditions.
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions in New England

WHAT: Commercial Vehicle Travel Restrictions
VTrans is working closely with our surrounding states to ensure accurate and effective messaging of commercial vehicle (CV) restrictions during the weekend snowstorm. Except for the potential activation of the VT-9 Chain Up law for CVs in Searsburg and Woodford, VT is not restricting the movement of CVs. The following information is intended to be informational and to support messaging for our neighboring states.
Massachusetts is restricting all commercial vehicles from operating on State roadways: 6 am Saturday until midnight.
New York
Long Island is restricting all commercial vehicle traffic to the right lane on Long Island Expressway and the freeway section of Route 27.
New Hampshire does not have restrictions in place.
Connecticut is restricting Tractor Trailer units from operating on Limited Access Roadways: 6 a.m. Saturday until (time TBD).
Rhode Island is restricting Tractor Trailer units from operating on State roadways: 6 am Saturday until midnight. In addition, RI is planning a full travel restriction on all non-essential travel: estimated for 8 am Saturday to 8 pm Saturday.
