Protect yourself from COVID-19 this summer and beyond
Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott today announced a series of new pop-up walk-in vaccination clinics available across Vermont beginning this week.
Vermont leads the nation in COVID-19 vaccination rates. 83.2 percent of the eligible population has already received at least one dose of vaccine.
He said the number of people getting vaccinated appears to have leveled off after dropping for several weeks. He speculated that this could be because of the preponderance of Delta variant in COVID-19 cases, which could be causing people more concern.
Health Commissioner Mark Levine said again that Delta is more transmissible. He added that there is some data to suggest from Britain and Israel that getting just the first dose of vaccine is not as protective against Delta as it was against the other variants. He urged Vermonters to make sure they get both doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Financial Regulation Commissioner Michael Pieciak noted during his weekly modeling update that while Vermont leads the nation in all the major vaccination categories, COVID has not gone away. This week one more person died from the disease, which was the first this month. Overall, 259 Vermonters have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Daily cases, while still low, have about doubled to an average of 13. The VDH is reporting 11 cases today. SEE DATA BELOW.
“As we’ve said all along, we’re not letting up on our efforts to make vaccines as accessible as possible,” said Governor Scott. “Across the country, we’re seeing cases rise, especially among those who are not vaccinated. It is never too late to protect yourself and get vaccinated.”
The schedule for the new vaccination clinics available for walk-ins this week is included below.
In addition to these new locations, the following clinics continue to offer vaccinations during their regular operating hours:
- Pharmacies at the UVM Medical Center’s (UVMMC) main campus and Fanny Allen campus;
- UVMMC’s South Prospect Street outpatient pharmacy;
- The Community Health Centers of Burlington (weekdays);
- The Northwestern Medical Center Urgent Care Clinic (weekdays);
- The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Express Care (daily).
In addition to these options and pop-up clinics, most pharmacies around Vermont offer walk-in vaccinations. Ask your local pharmacist today or simply walk into a CVS, Hannaford Food and Drug, Walmart, Walgreens, Price Chopper/Market 32, Rite Aid, Shaws Supermarket, or Costco.
Note: The hours for these clinics, along with vaccine type offered, will be posted on the Vermont Department of Health’s website, which can be found here: https://www.healthvermont.gov/myvaccine.
