Central Vermont Medical Center COVID call center ramps down

Vermont Business Magazine Central Vermont Medical Center’s COVID-19 Call Center will take its last phone call today.

The center opened on March 17, 2020 and served as a triage service for COVID-19 testing in the Central Vermont region. Originally intended exclusively for testing triage, call center staff often provided callers with community information and connected callers to additional health resources.

At the height of its operation, the COVID-19 Call Center had a staff of six nurses and an on-site provider who handled 250-300 calls per day – some even from outside CVMC’s service area due to the call center’s reputation for providing fast and reliable information.

As COVID infections have dropped so too has the call volume at the call center. CVMC patients with COVID-19 concerns are now being directed to contact their primary care provider.

Asymptomatic testing in the area is available via partnership with CIC Health, CVMC, and the State of Vermont. Visit https://www.healthvermont.gov/testing to learn more and register.
