GlobalFoundries and Vermont Tech strengthen education partnership

Partnership provides GlobalFoundries' employees the opportunity to further their education at Vermont Tech at discounted tuition rates, in addition to the GF tuition reimbursement program

Vermont Business Magazine GlobalFoundries (GF) and Vermont Technical College announced today that they have established a partnership program which offers GF employees the opportunity to further their education at Vermont Tech in undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs at discounted tuition rates. Additionally, employees can further benefit through GF’s tuition reimbursement program. For Vermont Tech, partnering with GF brings experienced professionals to the campus, broadening the learning experience for current attendees and providing a pipeline of new students.

“We have numerous Vermont Tech alumni working at GF. There are more than 150 Vermont Tech graduates on our team, many in leadership positions. Within the last two years alone, we have hired nearly two dozen Vermont Tech alumni and interns,” said Pradip Singh, vice president and general manager of GF Fab 9. “This education partnership agreement further strengthens our relationship with Vermont Tech and gives our employees a great opportunity to enhance their education and careers. This is another example of GF partnering with community organizations to ensure the growth and vitality of Vermonters and Vermont.”

GF’s previously announced Technician Apprenticeship Program, developed in partnership with Vermont Tech, allows GF to further its talent pipeline and continue to thrive in the state of Vermont as a leading specialty foundry and innovation hub for mobile/consumer products. GF currently has 22 participants in the program, which allows employees to take one course per semester for three years, giving them the base courses needed to achieve half of an electrical engineering technology degree. GF also has a strong recruiting presence on the Vermont Tech campus for both full-time employment and summer internships.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with GlobalFoundries, a key Employer Partner with Vermont Tech, which supports both organizations,” said Vermont Tech President Patricia Moulton. “By providing greater access to current employees of a major regional manufacturer, Vermont Tech will continue to support the workforce needs of an industry so important to our state and region, aligned with the college’s advanced manufacturing core competency.”
