Big Change Roundup pivots to contactless collections this weekend

Vermont Business Magazine The annual “Big Change Roundup for Kids” to support specialized care provided at The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital has changed a lot during this pandemic year – including adding contactless drive-thru collections. The three-month long coin collecting campaign is the largest annual fundraiser for the hospital, and is a joint project of the UVM Children’s Hospital and 98.9 WOKO-FM.

Although the Roundup has pivoted to virtual events and contactless collections to prevent the spread of COVID-19, one thing that hasn’t changed is the need for support of the hospital’s high-quality care of pediatric patients in Vermont and Northern New York.

Med Associates, Inc., is a key sponsor this year, but the effort relies on contributions from thousands of volunteers.

“From life-saving equipment in our neonatal intensive care unit to our Child Life specialists who help our young patients and their families cope with their hospital experience, these dimes and quarters add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to change the lives of young people,” said Chief of Pediatrics Lewis First, MD. “During a pandemic we need this change now more than ever before to enable us to continue to be the highest quality child-friendly family-centered children’s hospital possible – especially in these challenging times.”

This weekend the Roundup will hold Contactless Drive-thru Collections on both sides of Lake Champlain:

  • Saturday, March 20, 11am-1pm: Clark's Truck Center 4365 NY-22, Plattsburgh, NY
  • Sunday, March 21, 11am-1pm: University Mall 155 Dorset Street, South Burlington, VT
