The Vermont State Police is investigating the death of William J. Barrett, 63, of Brattleboro, Vermont, who was found unresponsive in his cell by Department of Corrections staff at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. DOC staff called for emergency medical services to respond to the facility while attempting life-saving measures.

Vermont Business Magazine Average gasoline prices in Vermont are $3.14/g, up 2 cents per gallon from last week's $3.09/g, 4 cents higher from last month and 5 cents lower than last year, according to AAA. The lowest price in the state this week was $2.85/g while the highest was $3.35/g, a difference of 50.0 cents per gallon.
