Governor-Elect Peter Shumlin announced today the appointment of Dr. Harold (Hal) Colston as Executive Director of the Vermont Commission on National and Community Service. The Commission, with a state-administered $2 million grant from the federal government, coordinates Americorps National service programs and other volunteer and community services across Vermont.

Stratford Career Institute, Inc, a correspondence school located in Mount Royal, Quebec, has entered into a settlement with the Vermont Attorney General’s Office to resolve claims that the school misrepresented its geographic location as being in Vermont. The school will pay civil penalties and costs in the amount of $10,000 to the State.
