People's United Financial, Inc. (Nasdaq: PBCT) has announced net income of $32.0 million, or $0.09 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2010, compared to $24.1 million, or $0.07 per share, for the third quarter of 2010, and $24.9 million, or $0.07 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2009.

Rock of Ages Corporation (NASDAQ:ROAC) has announced the completion of its previously announced pending merger with a wholly owned subsidiary of Swenson Granite Company LLC, of Concord, NH, whereby Swenson acquired all of the outstanding shares of common stock of the Company that it did not previously own for $5.25 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at $25.2 million.

U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy (D) has named John Tracy as his State Director, overseeing his activities and staff in Vermont. Tracy replaces Chuck Ross, Vermont’s new Secretary of Agriculture in the administration of Governor Peter Shumlin.

US Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan today awarded more than $3.6 million in funding to keep 24 of local homeless assistance programs in Vermont operating in the coming year. The grants announced today form a critical foundation for the Obama Administration’s Opening Doors strategy, the nation’s first comprehensive plan to prevent and end homelessness.

Union Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ ‘ UNB) has announced Net Income for the fourth quarter 2010 of $1.38 million or $0.31 per share compared to $1.28 million or $0.29 per share for 2009. Net Income for the year ended December 31, 2010 was $5.59 million or $1.25 per share compared to $5.23 million or $1.17 per share for the same period in 2009.
