Fall Festival grant applications due Tuesday, June 2

For our 2025 Fall Festival, Sage Mountain in East Barre hosted “Patterns in the Land,” a guided walk and community dialogue exploring ecological and cultural resilience.

Vermont Humanities Council Vermont non-profits: don’t miss your chance to apply for a grant of up to $2500 to host a Fall Festival project centered around the theme of Our Woven History. Applications are due before midnight on Tuesday, June 2.

Every year, our Fall Festival celebrates National Arts and Humanities Month in October and reminds Vermonters of the impact and breadth of the humanities.

This year’s Fall Festival recognizes the hidden history contained in our Vermont Reads 2026 book, Charity and Sylvia by Tillie Walden, while also commemorating the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding.

Words in the Woods Begins Saturday, June 20 in Ferrisburg

We’re so thrilled that our popular Words in the Woods program will be returning for a seventh season! Enjoy our state’s natural beauty while listening to and reading literature in the outdoors. We’ll cover the park entrance fees on the day of our events so that you can enjoy a full day at the park.

This summer, we will host five Vermont poets in-person at different Vermont State Parks, beginning with poet Joanne McNeil Hayes at Button Bay State Park in Ferrisburg on June 20.

The season will conclude with a September program featuring young poets at the new Mt. Philo summit pavilion.
