Interstates:
Bethel-Brookfield, I-89 Paving – Fine milling operations begin in the southbound lanes, starting in Brookfield and moving south towards Randolph. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting. Temporary single-lane closures will be in place with speed reductions to 55 mph. Motorists should watch for grooved pavement and uneven lanes within active construction areas.
Montpelier-Waterbury, I-89 South Paving – Work resumes between Exits 8 and 10 to complete the final paving. Motorists should expect minimal delays as crews install construction approach signs. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph, and fines will be doubled.
Newbury-Ryegate, I-91 Paving – Milling and paving operations are scheduled for I-91 North between Exits 16 and 18. Temporary single-lane closures will be in place for multiple work zones, shifting between the high- and low-speed lanes as work progresses. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Royalton, I-89 Bridge Rehabilitation – Work continues on I-89 North and South near Exit 3. A high-speed lane closure on I-89 South will remain in place throughout the week until Bridge 26S is closed and crossovers are opened, at which time southbound traffic will cross over to I-89 North lanes, travel across Bridge 26N, and return to I-89 South via crossovers. Southbound on-ramp traffic will use a temporary on-ramp merging onto the north crossover with a 55 mph speed limit and 25 mph advisory speed for sharp right turns. A permanent high-speed lane closure on I-89 North with temporary concrete barriers restricts northbound traffic to the low-speed lane, with a 15-foot travel width across Bridge 26N and a 55 mph speed limit. Traffic on VT 107 remains unaffected with a 30 mph speed limit and 14-foot height restriction under Bridge 26S.
State Highways:
Barre-East Montpelier, VT 14 Resurfacing – Shoulder work is progressing on VT 14 for this paving project. Between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Barre Town, Railroad Crossing Improvements – A railroad crossing improvement project continues on Quarry Hill Road between just north of Fisher Road and just south of Cherrywood Road. Quarry Hill Road is reduced to one lane with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers during the day and temporary traffic signals at night, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Motorists should expect delays.
Bennington, Bridge 6 Replacement (VT 9/Main Street) – VT 9/Main Street is closed between Morgan Street and Beech Street for a full bridge replacement through early June. A signed detour is in place. Beech Street and Morgan Street remain closed at their intersections with VT 9/Main Street, with no access to the main roadway. The Buck Stop Mini-Mart, gas station, and TenneyBrook Car Wash remain accessible via Beech Street.
Bennington, VT 67A Roundabout Construction – Crews will continue constructing the splitter islands and roundabout, and work on the sediment basin. College Drive and Matteson Road (Rice Ln) remain fully close at VT 67A through June, with traffic maintained via detour routes. Roadway signs direct drivers to continue southbound on VT 67A, onto VT 279 eastbound, onto U.S. 7 northbound and exit at Exit 2 in Bennington. Drivers then turn onto VT 7A southbound, onto Rice Lane, onto Matteson Road. To reach College Drive, drivers continue north on Matteson Road onto Harlan Road onto Jennings Drive and back onto College Drive.
Brattleboro, U.S. 5, VT 142, VT 9, and VT 30 Resurfacing – A Class 1 night paving project is finishing final work items throughout downtown Brattleboro on U.S. 5, VT 9, and VT 30. Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning, a mobile work zone will be present. Uniformed Traffic Officers will provide a follow-along vehicle and may direct alternating traffic patterns through short lane closures, as needed.
Brattleboro-Putney, U.S. 5 Resurfacing – Milling will continue north on U.S. 5 to Putney. Between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., a single-lane closure will be in place and may change throughout the day to a maximum distance of 1.5 miles. Alternating traffic patterns will be controlled by flaggers. This work zone will alternate between the northbound and southbound lanes. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces, and all motorists should expect delays.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange – Sunday evening through Friday morning, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View will have lane closures along the west side of the roadway for milling and box cutting work. Traffic will be shifted to the east side of the roadway. The west side of U.S. 2/7 will be reduced to gravel starting Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. Lower Mountain View Drive will be under lane closures for roadway widening. Monday morning through Friday afternoon, from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., intermittent lane closures with traffic shifts along U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive, and along the I-89 southbound off-ramp to complete foundation work and roadway maintenance. U.S. 2/7 will be repaved and temporarily restriped on Friday. Motorists should expect significant delays and rough conditions. Please drive slowly, be alert, and consider alternate routes.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 17 Interchange Improvements – During daytime hours, crews will install wrong-way delineators on the I-89 Exit 17 off-ramps and pavement markings on U.S. 2 and U.S. 7 within the project limits, weather permitting. Monday through Wednesday, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., lane-width reductions and shifts will be in effect on the I-89 Exit 17 off-ramps. Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., U.S. 2 and U.S. 7 will have intermittent lane closures with traffic shifted as needed.
Derby-Newport, VT 191 Resurfacing – Milling operations will continue for this paving project on VT 191. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns will be in place. In areas where three lanes of travel are present, temporary lane shifts around active work zones will allow a single lane of travel in either direction. Uniformed Traffic Officers will be present and may direct traffic in the U.S. 5 intersection as needed. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Elmore, Bridge #90 Replacement – Construction of the temporary roadway and bridge continues. On VT 12 near the North Branch Cascades Trail, there will be one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by a temporary signal outside of work hours.
Hartford, U.S. 4 Quechee Gorge Bridge Project – Crews continue work on the north side of the bridge. One-way alternating traffic controlled by a traffic signal is in place. Pedestrians must also cross on the south side of the bridge.
Milton, U.S. 7 Intersection Reconfiguration – Construction of the new Keelty Crossing will continue. Traffic impacts will remain minimal, with a shoulder closure on the south side of U.S. 7. Trucks will be entering the green from Middle Road. Crews and equipment may be present near the roadway, with signage in place to guide motorists.
Norton, VT 114, Culvert Replacement – Crews will be installing construction approach signs on VT 114 in the project area. Flaggers will be in place to facilitate alternating one-lane traffic through the work zone between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pittsford, Bridge Replacement, U.S. 7 – For this bridge replacement project, motorists can expect traffic control present on U.S. 7 to allow for alternating one-way travel.
Poultney, Bridge #4 Rehabilitation – Work will include installation of steel shoring for the existing truss. Traffic has fully shifted to the one-lane temporary bridge, which is now open to truck traffic. Traffic is controlled by temporary signals, with flaggers used as needed. Motorists should proceed with caution through the work zone.
Readsboro, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – As part of the bridge replacement over the Deerfield River, crews will continue work on the abutment formwork, reinforcing steel, and pier foundation for the new bridge. The temporary bridge continues to carry travelers over the river. Flaggers will be present periodically throughout the week.
Troy, VT 243 Resurfacing – Paving operations are scheduled for VT 243. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place on Tuesday from just south of the Canadian border to the intersection with Dominion Avenue. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Williston, VT 2A and Industrial Ave Intersection Roadway Widening – During daytime hours, crews will install new curb along the roadway and conduct excavation and other preparatory work for the new bioretention pond on the west side of VT 2A near Industrial Avenue, and continue installing sewer across VT 2A at Hillside Drive and along the east side of VT 2A toward Bittersweet Circle. Weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the VT 2A northbound lane between Mountain View Road and Bittersweet Circle will be closed, with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Weekdays between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., the southbound right turn lane from VT 2A onto Industrial Avenue will be closed. Motorists should expect major traffic delays and plan for extra travel time or seek alternate routes.
Wolcott, Bridge #6 Replacement – Bridge #6 on School St remains closed to all traffic. A signed detour is in place to guide motorists to Flat Iron Road and VT 15. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., traffic at the intersection of VT 15 and School Street will be controlled by flaggers.
Worcester Bridge #89 Replacement – Crews will remove old pavement and install new pavement on the bridge over the Hardwood Brook located on VT 12, approximately 5.3 miles north of Calais Road. Expect alternating one-way traffic control by flaggers Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
