CVHHH’s paid LNA training program offers a pathway to a career in healthcare

Vermont Business Magazine Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) is now accepting applications for the agency’s first paid Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) training program. The session will launch in August 2026 and be held over two-and-a-half weeks at CVHHH headquarters in Barre.

CVHHH’s LNA Certification Training is designed for early-career candidates or those in career transition who are interested in pursuing healthcare professionally. Facilitated by Tracey Zimmer, CVHHH’s clinical nurse educator, and led by Elliott Russell, RN, participants will receive classroom instruction and practical clinical education as they prepare for their LNA certification exam. In addition to hourly compensation, the agency will cover certification fees for trainees. After completing the program and earning certification, participants will have the opportunity to pursue full-time employment at CVHHH.

LNAs play a key role in patient care in the home health environment. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Team Manager, LNAs provide patients with hands-on care and support with activities of daily living, and prioritize patient safety, comfort, and well-being.

“Being able to truly connect with [patients] makes the work incredibly rewarding,” says Donna Fontana, who has worked as an LNA at CVHHH for more than two decades. “You don’t just care for the patient — you get to know their whole family. They look forward to your visits, and you become an important part of their lives,” she says.

LNA Certification Training highlights:

  • Paid training and certification testing so you can continue to earn while you learn
  • No prior healthcare experience necessary
  • Pathway to a long-term healthcare career and the opportunity to join the CVHHH team following program completion
  • Train and work locally
  • Learn valuable skills that make a meaningful difference for patients and families

The first LNA Certification Training session begins on August 17. Please visit www.cvhhh.org/lna-training-program to learn more and apply.
