Interstates:
Bethel-Brookfield, I-89 Paving – Paving operations will resume northbound and southbound. Shoulder cleanup, stone fill installation, and guardrail work will continue Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect grooved pavement, uneven lanes, and single-lane closures with speed reductions to 55 mph.
Brattleboro, I-91 Exit 3 Paving – From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and until noon on Thursday, crews will be accessing the shoulders for the installation of detour signs and message boards from Brattleboro to Putney on the following routes: I-91, U.S. 5, VT 9, and at the on- and off-ramps of Exit 2 and Exit 4.
Montpelier-Waterbury, I-89 South Paving – Expect major delays due to multiple lane closures as crews install shoulder material this week through Thursday at noon. Motorists should also expect uneven lanes and a milled surface. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph within the project limits, and fines will be doubled.
Newbury-Ryegate, I-91 Paving – Temporary single-lane closures are planned for I-91 North between Exits 16 and 18. A speed limit reduction to 55 mph will be in place through the work zones for milling and drainage structure repair on Monday and Tuesday. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Royalton, I-89 Bridge Rehabilitation – Bridge deck and abutment work will continue Monday through Thursday near Exit 3 with crossovers, 15-foot width restrictions, and a speed limit of 55 mph in place until fall 2027. Motorists should expect a lane diversion and a speed limit of 30 mph on VT 107 with a 14-foot height restriction under Bridge 26S.
Waterbury-Richmond, I-89 Southbound Paving – There will be one lane of travel south of Exit 11 to Exit 10 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. Motorists should anticipate slow-moving travel and traveling on uneven lanes and milled surfaces throughout the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
State Highways:
Addison, VT 17 Paving – Mainline paving should be completed. Travelers should expect delays with alternating one-way traffic Monday through Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. as crews work on incidental items. The project will be shut down for the holiday weekend.
Barre City, VT 14 and Hill Street Railroad Crossing Improvements – Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hill Street between VT 14 and Perry Street will have intermittent single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers as the contractor mobilizes and begins preliminary site work. No traffic impacts are expected at the VT 14 railroad crossing. Crews will be off-site on Friday.
Barre-East Montpelier, VT 14 Resurfacing – Intermittent single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers may be present for punch list work prior to the holiday weekend.
Barre Town, Railroad Crossing Improvements – Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Quarry Hill Road between Fisher Road and Cherrywood Drive will have intermittent single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers for weather-dependent line striping. No work on Friday.
Bennington, VT 9/Main Street Bridge Replacement – Crews will continue forming and pouring concrete railings and sidewalks adjacent to the bridge. Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on Main Street, with traffic controlled by signal lights. Work will conclude by noon on Thursday for the holiday weekend.
Bennington, VT 67A Roundabout Construction – Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., flaggers will control alternating one-way traffic on the VT 67A, Silk Road, Matteson Road, and College Drive approaches to the VT 67A roundabout, with traffic maintained on the roundabout. Crews will conduct streetlight wiring, rectangular rapid flashing beacon, landscaping, and signage work.
Brattleboro, U.S. 5 Paving – Paving is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Thursday morning. Flagger-controlled work zones will be present from just south of the Exit 3 roundabout to the intersection with Old Ferry Road. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Brattleboro, VT 9 Class 1 Paving – Sidewalk work continues on VT 9 from the Edward Heights intersection to the I-91 Exit 2 interchange. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Thursday morning, flaggers will control traffic in intersections and through single-lane closures. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours and accessible ramps and use caution navigating the work zone.
Brattleboro-Putney, U.S. 5 Resurfacing – From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and until noon on Thursday, single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place. Mobile work zones will be present for the application of center line rumble strips and pavement markings. Traffic queues and delays are anticipated behind the equipment. Pavement markings are also scheduled to be applied from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Thursday morning on all side roads. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers and Uniformed Traffic Officers will be in place. Motorists should watch for wet paint.
Bridgewater, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – Motorists should expect daily lane closures with flaggers and short delays through the work zone. Work will conclude by noon on Thursday for the holiday weekend.
Castleton-Fair Haven VT 4A Paving – Drivers should expect daily daytime lane closures with flaggers and short delays along Route 4A through the villages of Castleton and Fair Haven. Shoulder closures will be in effect as needed. Night work is scheduled in Fair Haven Monday through Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be no work on Thursday or Friday due to the holiday weekend.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange – Sunday evening through Thursday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., U.S. 2/7 between the I-89 North ramps and Mountain View Drive will have lane closures on the west side with traffic shifted to the east for milling, box-cutting, and paving work. Tuesday night, the Exit 16 North on-ramp will have lane width reductions, with traffic maintained. From 7 p.m. on Wednesday, through 6 a.m. on Thursday, the Exit 16 North on-ramp will be fully closed to traffic. Motorists seeking to travel northbound on I-89 will be detoured via U.S. 2/7 to Exit 17. Lane closures and shifts on Lower and Upper Mountain View Drive at U.S. 2/7 for conduit sleeve installation. On Sunday and Monday night, U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 overpass bridges will have lane closures with traffic shifts for paving. Monday morning through Thursday afternoon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., U.S. 2/7 will have single-lane closures at the intersections of U.S. 2/7 with Mountain View Drive, Hercules Drive, and Rathe Road, with two-way traffic maintained. Motorists should expect significant delays and rough conditions. Please drive slowly, be alert, and consider alternate routes.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 17 Interchange Improvements – On Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., lane shifts will be in effect on U.S. 7 between the Shell Gas Station and Wiley Road. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will be in effect, with a single traffic stoppage of 10 minutes for overhead sign installation. Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan extra travel time or use alternate routes. From 8 p.m. on Tuesday through 12 a.m. on Wednesday, I-89 Exit 17 northbound off-ramp will be closed for overhead sign installation. I-89 northbound traffic will be detoured via Exit 18 in Georgia to U.S. 7 southbound.
Colchester-Essex, VT 15 Paving – For this resurfacing project between the Colchester/Winooski town line and Susie Wilson Road on VT 15, motorists can expect slow two-way travel Sunday through Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Derby, U.S. 5 and Alt. U.S. 5 Paving – Driveway apron paving and pavement markings are scheduled. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Elmore, VT 12 Bridge #90 Replacement – Crews continue excavation work at the first abutment and will remove the temporary form at the second abutment. Traffic on VT 12 near the North Branch Cascades Trail will be one lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by a temporary signal outside of work hours. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph through the project area.
Elmore, VT 12 Bridge #94 Replacement – A temporary bridge is now open to all traffic through the project area while crews continue bridge replacement work. Traffic on VT 12 near Camp Road will be one lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Outside of work hours, both lanes will be open to traffic controlled by traffic signals. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph through the project area.
Georgia-Fairfax, VT 104A Paving – For this resurfacing project between the
VT 104A/U.S. 7 intersection in Georgia extending 4.5 miles into Fairfax, Monday through Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., motorists can expect delays with traffic control present allowing for alternating one-lane of travel in multiple locations.
Hartford, U.S. 4 Quechee Gorge Bridge Project – Crews continue work on the north side of the bridge. One-way alternating traffic controlled by a traffic signal is in place. Pedestrians must cross on the south side of the bridge.
Milton, U.S. 7 Intersection Reconfiguration – Alternating one-way traffic will be in effect on Middle Road and Railroad Street Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flaggers on-site to guide motorists. Work will conclude at 3 p.m. Thursday in advance of the holiday weekend.
Northfield, VT 12 Retaining Wall Replacement – The southbound lane of VT 12 near the intersection with Town Highway 54 is permanently closed for the construction season. Monday through Thursday during work hours, flaggers will maintain alternating traffic patterns and facilitate trucks and equipment entering the work zone. A temporary traffic light will be active at all other times.
Norton, VT 114 Culvert Replacement – Crews will be constructing a diversion roadway. Expect alternating one-way traffic guided by flaggers or temporary signals. Motorists are urged to use caution on gravel surface.
Plainfield, U.S. 2 Slope Remediation – Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., U.S. 2 just west of VT 214 may have intermittent single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers as the contractor mobilizes and installs signage. Crews will be off-site on Friday.
Poultney, Town Highway/South Street Bridge Rehabilitation – Traffic remains shifted to the one-lane temporary bridge, which is open to truck traffic. Temporary signals direct vehicles through the site, with flaggers used as needed during construction operations and truck movements. Crews will continue painting operations on the existing truss and begin production pile work at the south abutment. There will be no work on Friday due to the holiday weekend.
Readsboro, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – As part of the bridge replacement over the Deerfield River, crews will continue work on the abutment formwork, reinforcing steel, and pier foundation for the new bridge. The temporary bridge is in place.
Troy, VT 243 and VT 105 Paving – Paving driveway aprons is scheduled Monday through Thursday. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Vershire, VT 113 Bridge #11 Replacement – The contractor will install environmental controls and begin excavation of abutment 1. Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists can expect minor traffic impacts and alternating one-way traffic pattern throughout the work zone controlled by flaggers and temporary traffic signals.
Williston, VT 2A and Industrial Ave Intersection Roadway Widening – Monday through Wednesday from 6:30 am to 6 p.m., and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., traffic on VT 2A between Mountain View Road and Hillside Drive will shift west, with cones marking lanes, as crews widen and reconstruct the east side. Single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.; two-way traffic will be maintained outside those hours. Drivers should expect delays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and allow extra travel time or use alternate routes.
Wolcott, School Street Bridge Replacement – The bridge on School Street remains closed to all traffic with a signed detour in place as trucks bring truss pieces for assembly. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., traffic at the intersection of VT 15 and School Street will be controlled by flaggers. An increase in truck traffic is expected; trucks will be using Flat Iron Road to access School Street to deliver bridge materials.
