NSB Foundation supports AGC Vermont Leadership Academy

Vermont Business Magazine The Associated General Contractors of Vermont (AGC/VT) is proud to announce support from the Northfield Savings Bank Foundation for the launch and expansion of the AGC Vermont Leadership Academy, a new workforce development initiative designed to prepare the next generation of construction leaders, in partnership with Vermont Works for Women.

The Leadership Academy will provide a comprehensive training experience combining technical construction knowledge and essential leadership skills, with sessions focused on project leadership, team development, financial fundamentals, and mentorship. Vermont Works for Women will serve as a key partner in helping connect the Academy’s leadership development goals with broader efforts to advance gender equity, expand access to career pathways, and strengthen Vermont’s skilled trades workforce.

Beginning with a pilot series of virtual sessions followed by in-person programming this fall, the Academy will feature a mix of instructor-led learning, guest speakers, and hands-on group activities that reflect real-world construction challenges.

Building Vermont’s Next Generation of Leaders

The AGC/VT Leadership Academy is designed to address one of the industry’s most pressing needs: developing strong leaders who can guide teams, manage complex projects, and help sustain Vermont’s construction workforce.

Participants will gain practical experience in:

  • Project leadership and decision-making
  • Team creation, development, and management
  • Construction financial basics and project success factors
  • Mentorship and workforce development strategies

Partnership That Builds More Than Projects

Support from the Northfield Savings Bank Foundation, together with a partnership from Vermont Works for Women, underscores a shared commitment to strengthening Vermont’s workforce, expanding opportunity in the skilled trades, and investing in long-term economic growth.

“The Leadership Academy is about more than training, it’s about building the people who will lead our industry forward,” said Richard Wobby Jr., Executive Vice President of AGC Vermont. “We’re incredibly grateful to the Northfield Savings Bank Foundation for recognizing the importance of developing our workforce, and to Vermont Works for Women for partnering with us to help ensure these leadership pathways are inclusive, accessible, and connected to the future needs of Vermont’s construction industry.”
