Second Generation Founder Sam Cutting becomes CEO and Chairman, continuing to lead the company's vision, product innovation, and Vermont maker partnerships as the 66-year family business invests in its next era of growth
Vermont Business Magazine Dakin Farm, the family-owned Vermont specialty food company known for its corn cob–smoked meats, hand-waxed aged cheddar, and pure Vermont maple syrup for 66 years, today announced the appointment of Katie Langrock as President. Second Generation Founder and longtime owner Sam Cutting becomes Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, where he will continue to guide the company's vision, new product development, and growing roster of Vermont artisan partnerships.
The leadership additions reflect a company investing in its future. Langrock will lead Dakin Farm's day-to-day operations, while Cutting focuses on the creative and strategic work that has defined the brand for more than six decades sourcing the best of Vermont, developing new products, and protecting the hands-on craft that sets Dakin Farm apart.
"Dakin Farm has been my family's work for 66 years, and I am as committed to it today as I've ever been," said Sam Cutting, CEO and Chairman of Dakin Farm. "Bringing Katie on as President lets me pour my energy into what I love most — dreaming up new products, deepening our partnerships with Vermont's finest makers, and making sure that when someone opens a box from Dakin Farm, they taste exactly what Vermont is all about. Katie is an extraordinary leader, and this company is in wonderful hands."
Langrock joins Dakin Farm following her tenure at Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Vermont Flannel, where she served as a senior leader in both operations and business strategy. She steps into the role energized by both the brand's heritage and its room to grow.
"I'm honored to lead a company with this much heart and history," said Katie Langrock, President of Dakin Farm. "What drew me here is that Dakin Farm is both deeply rooted and genuinely forward-looking. We're hand-waxing cheese and spiral-cutting hams the way we have for decades, while building new gift collections, welcoming more Vermont artisan partners, and meeting customers wherever they shop. There is so much potential here, and I can't wait to help write the next chapter."
Under its "What Vermont Tastes Like" philosophy, Dakin Farm has expanded well beyond its signature smoked meats, cheddar, and maple. The company now curates artisan cheeses, charcuterie, and gift collections featuring fellow Vermont makers — from small-batch preserves and old-fashioned cider jelly to a growing selection of Vermont craft beverages — available through its retail stores in Ferrisburgh and South Burlington, its catalog, online at dakinfarm.com, and a robust corporate gifting program.
Carolyn Cutting, a member of the founding family, joined the company five years ago upon graduation from the UVM Grossman School of Business in a marketing role, helping carry Dakin Farm's story to a new generation of customers.
With Langrock and Cutting at the helm and a third generation of the family now involved, Dakin Farm enters its next chapter on firm footing — as committed as ever to its employees, its Vermont maker partners, and the customers who have made it a holiday tradition for generations. As Cutting puts it: "We're not going anywhere. We're just getting started.”
