The Vermont Bar Foundation’s annual grant process spans approximately five months and includes letters of intent, full applications, interviews, committee review, deliberation, and final approval by the Board of Directors.
“The Vermont Bar Foundation takes its grantmaking process incredibly seriously, and every step of the process is approached with thoughtfulness, care, and intention,” said Lisa Campion, President of the Vermont Bar Foundation Board of Directors. “This year, the Board of Directors was deeply impressed by the strength, innovation, and compassion reflected in applications from organizations across Vermont. As the need for legal services and community support continues to grow, we are proud that the Foundation was able to increase our grantmaking for the second year in a row in support of organizations advancing access to justice and strengthening communities throughout our state.”
Foundation leadership noted that this year’s applications reflected both the scale of need facing Vermonters and the extraordinary commitment of organizations working every day to respond.
“What stood out throughout this process was not only the level of need, but the remarkable dedication, creativity, and resilience of organizations serving Vermonters in every corner of our state,” said Hannah King, Executive Director of the Vermont Bar Foundation. “These grants represent far more than funding, they are investments in safety, stability, advocacy, dignity, and opportunity for thousands of people. At a time when many communities are navigating increasingly complex challenges, the Vermont Bar Foundation is proud to continue expanding our support for the organizations doing this critical work on the ground every single day.”
The Vermont Bar Foundation is the only statewide foundation dedicated exclusively to supporting access to justice initiatives and civil legal services in Vermont. Through grantmaking, partnerships, and advocacy, the Foundation works to ensure that all Vermonters, regardless of income, identity, or geography have meaningful access to legal resources, representation, and support.
