City of Burlington announces FY27 livable wage rates

Vermont Business Magazine The City of Burlington has published the Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) livable wage rates under the City's Livable Wage Ordinance, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

For FY27, covered employers must pay:

  • $20.62 per hour when employer-assisted health insurance is provided.
  • $22.91 per hour when employer-assisted health insurance is not provided.

 

Covered employees are also entitled to 12 days of paid time off per year, subject to proration as provided in the ordinance.

The Livable Wage Ordinance applies to employers receiving City contracts or grants totaling more than $15,000 during any 12-month period. The ordinance helps ensure that employees working under covered City-funded contracts receive fair wages and benefits while promoting equitable employment practices throughout Burlington.

Employers covered by the ordinance are required to post the FY27 livable wage notice in a location readily visible to employees and must include notice of the ordinance in covered subcontracts.
