RSVP & The Volunteer Center awarded $127,500 to support older adult volunteer services

Over 400 AmeriCorps volunteers provided more than 63,000 hours of community service in 2025

Vermont Business Magazine RSVP & The Volunteer Center, which operates within the Rutland Community Programs division of Community Care Network, announced today that it has received an AmeriCorps Seniors grant of $127,500 from AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism.

The grant will support RSVP & The Volunteer Center’s expanded presence throughout Rutland and Addison counties, where it has been providing older adult programming across the areas of companionship, independent living, socialization, wellness, tax preparation and transportation for over 45 years.

“We are grateful for the continued support, partnership and guidance provided by AmeriCorps which ensures that our range of impactful programs, services and volunteer opportunities will remain strong throughout our region,” said Maryesa White, Director of Senior Volunteer Programs with Community Care Network.

With this new funding, RSVP & The Volunteer Center will continue to leverage the skills and experience of AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers in the delivery of a suite of supportive community programs and initiatives. Current signature programs include RSVP Bone Builders; RSVP – AARP Tax-Aide; RSVP Veterans Connection; and RSVP crisis kit initiative.

Additionally, AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers will also continue to be placed in other community-based positions supporting local food shelves, libraries, thrift stores, meal sites, meal delivery programs and other essential partner organizations.

RSVP & The Volunteer Center’s partnership with AmeriCorps enables adults over the age of 55 to learn new skills, connect with their community and contribute valuable, rewarding assistance to others through organized volunteer opportunities.

In 2025 alone, 478 AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers from RSVP & The Volunteer Center provided 63,353 hours of service to the community.
